Failure mode - Ford 6.2L Boss Gasoline (Super Duty 2011-2019, SVT Raptor 2010-2014; continued 2020-2022)
Fuel delivery service (in-tank pump / PFI injectors)
Reliability tier: aggregated - verify before ordering, see /disclosure/
Symptoms
- long crank / low rail pressure complaints on high-mileage trucks
- PFI injector service as wear
Compare with the other causes of the same sign on this engine: hard start, long crank or no-start
Root cause
Sequential multiport injection: no high-pressure pump, no DI carbon. The fuel surface is the in-tank delivery side and PFI injectors; owner reports sparse compared with the diesel platforms.
Diagnosis
- verify delivery pressure at the rail before replacing hardware
- rule out electrical/relay causes for no-starts first
Fixes
service: delivery hardware as needed ()
