High-pressure oil pump wear / low ICP

Symptoms

no-start or long crank HOT, starts fine cold (oil thins)
ICP lower than IPR duty predicts; P1211-family codes
worse with age/mileage; oil changes help temporarily

Root cause

The HEUI system's swash-plate HPOP (15deg OBS, 17deg 99+) wears; wear plus diluted/thin hot oil cannot reach injection pressure. Usually gradual; sudden no-start hot is the end state. Oil quality and level matter more than on any other item here.

Diagnosis

hot no-start: compare ICP actual vs desired and IPR duty (high duty + low ICP = pump or leak)
isolate pump vs leaks first: IPR o-rings, UVCH-side injector o-rings are cheaper causes of the same signature
check oil level/quality before anything - low oil = low ICP on HEUI

Fixes

replace IPR o-rings / IPR first (cheap) if duty is high but pump is aged only mildly ()
