Reliability tier: verified - verify before ordering, see /disclosure/
Exhaust manifold leak repair for the 6.2L Boss (mode Exhaust manifold leaks (broken manifold bolts)): cold-start tick at the flange and exhaust smell in the bay. Renew the leaking side's manifold; gaskets and fresh bolts are single-use - never reinstall the old hardware.
Parts
- 6.2L Boss Exhaust Manifold, right (OEM) - right manifold (7C3Z-9430-E) (qty 1)
- 6.2L Boss Exhaust Manifold, left (OEM) - left manifold (7C3Z-9431-A) (qty 1)
Install order
- locate the leak cold: smoke-test or feel the flange; check for the classic broken/stretched stud
- renew the leaking side's manifold; new gaskets and bolts are single-use
- torque in sequence cold, re-check after the first heat cycle
Expected outcome
No cold-start tick, no exhaust smell, no flange soot tracks.
Do not
- do not reinstall stretched or corroded manifold bolts
Parts budget
About $810 in parts. It depends on what the diagnosis finds; each option below is what you buy together. Prices marked "at Dave's" are Dave's Auto Center's, the same as in his store; the others are approximate prices from OEM and maker catalogs, rounded (a manufacturer's list price can run higher). Parts only, no labor.
