Recipe - Ford 3.2L Power Stroke Diesel (Transit 2015-2019)
Specific Fix build
Reliability tier: aggregated - verify before ordering, see /disclosure/
Internal coolant loss diagnosis (SSM 48543: overheat due to coolant loss without an external leak): the EGR cooler and oil cooler share the compact bay - find the path before parts.
Parts
- 3.2L Power Stroke EGR Cooler (CK4Z-9U433-D, current) - the usual internal-loss source (qty 1)
- 3.2L Power Stroke Oil Cooler / Filter Adapter (BK3Z-6881-D, current) - the second suspect in the same bay (qty 1)
- 3.2L Power Stroke Thermostat (XS7Z-8575-A) - ride-along service while open (qty 1)
Install order
- pressure-test cold/hot; check oil for coolant contamination
- EGR cooler path first (the documented failure)
- oil cooler path if the EGR cooler tests clean
- thermostat and coolant refresh while open
Expected outcome
Coolant loss stopped; overheating resolved.
Parts budget
About $50-$450 in parts. It depends on what the diagnosis finds; each option below is what you buy together. Prices marked "at Dave's" are Dave's Auto Center's, the same as in his store; the others are approximate prices from OEM and maker catalogs, rounded (a manufacturer's list price can run higher). Parts only, no labor.
