Recipe - Ram 1500 EcoDiesel 3.0L V6 (2014-2019)
Specific Fix build
Reliability tier: verified - verify before ordering, see /disclosure/
EGR cooler job for the 3.0L EcoDiesel (mode EGR cooler cracking and coolant loss (recall 19V-757)): coolant loss with no visible leak, white smoke. FIRST check recall 19V-757 (FCA VB1) by VIN - the cooler replacement AND the intake manifold inspection are the campaign's free remedy. Post-campaign failures use the same 68445601AA kit.
Parts
- Ram 1500 EcoDiesel EGR Cooler Kit (Mopar 68445601AA, 2014-2019) - EGR cooler kit 68445601AA (cooler + EGR valve + actuator) - the recall service part, supersedes 68239570AB (qty 1)
- Ram 1500 EcoDiesel Intake Manifold Kit (Mopar 68492577AA, 2014-2019) - intake manifold kit 68492577AA - the explicit campaign step when coolant pooled/combusted in the intake (qty 1)
- Ram 1500 EcoDiesel EGR Valve (Mopar 68211310AA, 2014-2019) - EGR valve 68211310AA - separate order if the valve alone is soot-bound and the cooler passes (qty 1)
Install order
- check recall 19V-757 (VB1) status by VIN at a dealer BEFORE ordering anything - completed campaign changes the whole job
- confirm the diagnosis: unexplained coolant loss + white smoke, borescope the EGR/intake path for coolant residue (microscopic cracks leak internally)
- replace the EGR cooler kit; inspect the intake manifold per the campaign and replace it if contaminated
- refill, bleed, drive-cycle; monitor coolant level - owner litigation claims remedy coolers can fail again, so recheck after 500 miles
Expected outcome
Parts budget
About $480-$2,350 in parts. It depends on what the diagnosis finds; each option below is what you buy together. Prices marked "at Dave's" are Dave's Auto Center's, the same as in his store; the others are approximate prices from OEM and maker catalogs, rounded (a manufacturer's list price can run higher). Parts only, no labor.
