Replaces the stock sending unit in its tank location (OEM 89060639 on these trucks, Duramax LB7 Fuel Tank Sender (OEM)) with new fuel-level electronics and float and a bucket draw that feeds an aftermarket frame-mounted lift pump - it is for trucks running one (see Duramax 2001-2010 Lift Pump Upgrade (FASS Titanium Signature C10 100G)), not a like-for-like sender. No tank cutting. MY2004 straddles the LB7->LLY switch - verify the generation before ordering.
