Failure mode - Ford 3.2L Power Stroke Diesel (Transit 2015-2019)
Sensors / MIL / electrical gremlins (launch-era SSM cluster)
Reliability tier: aggregated - verify before ordering, see /disclosure/
Symptoms
- MIL with assorted diesel DTCs (launch years)
- sensor-circuit codes (cam/crank/rail)
- battery/charging complaints on the dual-battery system
Root cause
The 2015 launch year carried a large informational SSM cluster (45023, 45266, 46066, 46706, 46824 and more) covering sensor/DTC behavior; most resolved with calibrations and sensor updates rather than hardware.
Diagnosis
- read DTCs against the launch-era SSM set before parts
- verify calibration level (the 2015-2016 vans took multiple updates)
- battery/charging baseline on every electrical complaint
Fixes
calibration updates and sensor replacement per the SSM directions ()
- senders - more than one option: 3.2L Power Stroke Fuel Temperature Sensor (BK2Z-9F951-A), 3.2L Power Stroke Oil Pressure Sensor (3S7Z-9278-B, current)
- 3.2L Power Stroke Glow Plug Control Unit (CK4Z-12B533-B)
